Femininity. One horrible post.

Can’t resist this one.
Gee, I wonder why so many people are offended by traditional gender roles? Do I even need to say anything about this?

The very idea of poor little girls being taught that, in order to be a woman, you need to choose between being attractive to a man, and being “the real you”… so awful.

Note to all women: I would officially be, um, not attracted to women if this is what women were all like.

Wow! Hayley Mills/Miss Bliss/Susan & Sharon!

Some of the things the girls sing about in this video were touched on in your other posts, though… I mean, weren't you talking about how God made women to use their "femininity" to reveal Him? Plus, it doesn't seem too bad to encourage a girl to be "radiant", as long as they are radiating who they really are.

Of course, I don't think you ever made the point that they should be dainty and gentle for the sole purpose of finding a "beau". And the lengths these girls go is decidedly ridiculous. The entire "hide the real you" part is disgusting.

I wonder what ends up happening in the movie. Maybe their advice fails? Probs not, though, huh?

Have you heard this song?

"Wishin' and Hopin'", written by 2 guys, first became popular in 1963. Ani DiFranco made an ironic re-recording of it in the late 1990s.

Being a girl sucks sometimes.

Yeah, I don’t think the song is *all* bad; but the whole thing about “hide the real you”, and to sit there and laugh at his jokes but don’t say anything… yech. Never seen the actual movie though. Just saw this song referenced on another blog that was holding it up as a great example of what women should still be taught, so I thought I’d check it out.

p.s., “c”… who are you? 🙂
